Hi Tom et al!

You're right, but if that was the main goal, i.e. you have an etched
formant board or a dead synth which is ready to go for the uA726, its way
easier to put in a tempco somewhere (there is most likely already a good
place somewhere in there...) and fumbling the MAT into it in place of the
uA, than finding enough room for a servo loop opamp, a current limit
resistor and of course the CA3046. 
I think it will be rather seamless, instead of a dongle with all the extra
stuff on it. Plus you're guaranteed that there will be no trouble with the
PSU. 

IMO of course.
