Hi Jim n All !
I recall reading an article in Computer Music Journal (early '90s)
from a french team, where each key got some flat coil, moving between
two stationary coils, operating as a linear motor . They were big,
but narrow, so they could be stacked to form the kbd . The idea was
to give "force feedback" to the player and give meaningful input to
the using system .
This spells loads of power, cores and copper : heavy and expensive .
Never saw anything, or heard, of it again .
Cheers .
Keep 'em oscillating :)
