Hi all,
Occasionally, I get to fix piano-accordians. Yes, they are the squash
the bag type, but most nowadays also include midi or some sort of serial
interface between it and a sound box. You can even midi up your old one
too. The midi kits are quite cheap, but can be tricky to fit. Elka 83
seems to be the one to go for, both chord/bass buttons and the keyboard.
Very responsive too, breath control without the mouthpiece. The midi
ones have GM capability, although to get the 'best' out of them you need
one of the specially made sound modules with 'quality' drum rhythms too.
Nice!
But the best bit, well it gives me a laugh, is the fact that some bloke
will ring me up and tell me he makes dance music for the clubs and then
turns up with one of these midi'd accordians... So thats 'Scottish
Dance' music not Scottish 'dance music' then. The vision of this guy
playing 'Crinan Canal' in 3/4 at 160bpm always makes me smile.
