sampled != digital. it is not digital unless it goes through ADC/DAC.
other examples of sampled analogue systems are stereo FM radio (15kHz(?)
pilot tone directs L&R signals) and film (sampled at 24 frames per
second). I'm sure there are loads of other examples.
