Actually, you have the wrong Coil in mind.  The Coil you're thinking of is 
called, simply, Coil.  It consists of John Balance, Stephen Christopherson 
(ex-Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV), and a rotating cast including Jim 
Thirlwell of Foetus.  They've done everything from raw primal industrial 
sound to ambientish extended compositions.  Best things to check out for an 
overview of their work are Scatology, Love's Secret Domain, and Musick to 
Play In The Dark Vol. 1.  If you're Stateside (like me) be prepared to put 
some effort (and money) into finding their releases.  And it is a very, 
very nice video.  Playing in the NYC MoMA, last I heard.
