I have done this with great success. I can send you some photos of my
finished products if you like. Your thoughts of using CorelDraw and a laser
printer works perfectly. That is exactly the method I used. The printing
was done on plain white paper. The whole thing was covered with several
VERY light coats of urethane satin spray (almost splattered like).
I cannot take credit for this procedure. That credit belongs to Ken Tkacs
who I met on the MOTM list. He and I have both used this procedure to make
DIY modules and do some other kits conversions to match our MOTM panels
which are while screen on a black texture painted panel.
Ken has a detailed explanation of his panel making process at this website

If you would like some photos e-mailed of my finished projects, I would be
happy to e-mail them privately.

Has anyone experiences in producing faceplates
(without wasting too much money) with white
text on black background ? I think, merely printing
a coreldraw design with a laser printer on an
adherent (white) plastic film would be enough, but :
does it look good ?
