Hi Ken, have you ever seen one of paia's tube preamps?
They use a 4049 inverter powered voltage tripler that
gives up about +40V from a +12Vsupply . The current
is low but you wouldn't need that much for neons. You
might be able to add another stage to the voltage tripler.
If it works it would give you about +55-60V.
