DIY PCB plated thru holes?

I second this.. No way should you subject yourself to those types of
chemicals and potentially dangerous/hazardous procedures just to save a
little money.. Actually, in your case, if you calculate in your time to do
these thru holes you would probably find it not worthwhile to do the boards
diy..

Another plus to this is that when you see the expense of having multiple
layers/ many through holes, you might redo your design somewhat to save
cost! This is always a very valuable skill when it comes to layout in an
industry/consumer electronic setting.

We used to have a guy who, when the autorouting left a few parts
unconnected, would just add another layer and reroute! Oh, the humanity! Oh
the cost!

We had many 11 and 12 layer boards, unfortunately.
