ASM-1 VCO testing

I just finished building a single VCO based on the ASM-1 VCO schematic and
was wondering is anyone had any suggestions for testing it (Have the
circuit built up on a solderless proto-board right now). I am new to
the analogue world and currently don't have any equipment that outputs CV
(planning on getting a Midi to CV converter later). I also do not have
access to a scope anymore, only a DMM. Would it be possible to hook up a
voltage source to one of the CV inputs and hook up a 1/4" jack to the saw
or pulse out and use headphones to initially verify it is working? I have
a control pedal which out puts 0-5v I could easily hookup to a CV in.

I finished the circuit late last night and tried this procedure and got a
constant nasty buzz at the output, with no change in pitch. This is
probably an idiotic question, but for verification do I have the output
jack and power supply hooked up right? I built a +/-15v power
supply which works fine. My concern is how I have the grounds hooked up. I
have the power supply ground going to a bus with all the circuit grounds
attached. I then have the ground from the 1/4" jack hooked into this as well. The
+15v and -15v go to seperate busses and to the appropriate parts of the
circuit. The power supply I built is based on this circuit:

It seems to work fine accrding to the DMM. +15.03v and -14.97v measured.

Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
