DIY PCB plated thru holes?

MHO:

send them out. when you get to DIY-PTH its either really expensive,
or unreliable.  Better to set the boards up as a multiple and get some
shop to do the deed for you.

Once upon a time, people used eyelets. They are not reliable.

Soldering both sides IS an option. a careful layout can minimize the
number of points you NEED to solder on both sides...
