yeh, you can get away with a smps... usu just need some shielding and some
ferrites on the DC out leads.. the only prob I have ever encountered with
them [same as ICL7660 & sim charge pump vtg converter chips] is audio noise
added on the supply rails... of course, if yr converter freq is very high
above ultrasonic range then they dont really make much noise.. I've seen
quite a few... AKAI S.... samplers use them.... oh and they are a right
bugger to repair that's the main thing that I hate with them.. also those
1000W a chan car amps that you can hear for 3 blocks use smps dc/dc conv
[none too easy to drive 4 ohm spkrs to 1000w on only 12V] [ always wonder
though, bought a nice huge stereo for the car, cant afford any taste in
music?]
and what is f......h i.....s?
cheers,
Dan
