CD-RW problems

Hi all,

First off many thanks to all those who replied to my request of help.
There were many ideas on why it didn't work... but in the end it proved
to be quite simple. The Philips CD-RW drive was dead. The computer was
fine. Fortunately, the drive was only eight months old, so I got it
replaced with a new faster one from Sony for no cost. Mind, it took me a
while to get it to work. The old Philips drivers hung in there after
getting Norton Cleansweep to get rid of the Philips application
software. It caused no end of problems until I put them all back, and
let Windows own add/remove programs do its bit. Its OK now.

But give me an analogue circuit anyday....
