Hi all,
If I may I would like to ask for help on an off topic problem I am
having.
My CD-RW drive is now being ignored by my computer, the icon in 'my
computer' has gone, although the shortcut is still there. One day it was
fine, the next, it is not recognised by Windows95 and importanatly not
seen in the start up sequence before windows actually starts. It is
finding my CD rom drive, but not the CD-RW which is on the same cable. I
have done nothing to the machine that should have caused this.
Now it has happened before, and after doing all the usual things,
checking cables and drivers, in the end I resorted to reloading Windows
just in case. That got it to work and it has been running fine for about
four weeks until today.
So how comes a reload of windows helped cure it when it looks as it is a
problem with the machine... bios? Or could an intermittant problem in
the drive cause this, once ignored always ignored?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
