What is "chip creep"? Does the IC move out of the socket by itself?
I had one (or two?) 3310 go bad too. But luckily they were still
available back then.

Yes, when I think about it... Juergen's core is only four trannies and a
quad opamp - the rest could be done by a microprocessor (if there is one
in the system)... the 3310s on my Doepfer voice cards have a quad opamp
each associated with them too.
