triangle VCOs and Buchla designs

I've been meaning to ask this for a week or so -- I've got about twenty or
so 2N3565's lying around from school (asked nicely, and got seventh form
electronics boards from last year). What are they useful for? What popular
'synth' tranny's can I use them instead of?
