LM331 V-F Converter

Any experience out there?  An old post from tomg indicates
maybe there might be.  The data sheet says better than 0.03%
nonlinearity to 10Khz.  Pulse output, which is primarily
what I need, but I imagine an FET could take a signal from
the cap.  This part is a relaxation oscillator and I wonder
if it has the same crowbarring effect that plagues the 
bipolar 555 ?  It caught my eye perusing the JameCo catalog
at $2.95 in singles.
