I've just joined this list so apologies if this has already been
suggested: if you're using it for one-off rips onto CD or MP3, why not
simply play the records at 33 or 45 and sample them at the highest rate
and word length you have available, then downsample to 44.1kHz using a
33/78 or 45/78 factor to correct the speed and requantize as necessary.
