you can ditch HEAPS of stuff out of the envelope stage...
1... doesnt seem like you be needing the gate output....so [going
backwards] ditch the gate o/p amp, the trans, & 1 op amp before it.. can
lose the input 741 as you are driving this from the op amp o/ps from the
filter.., the env det is a full wave rectifier here.. if you at higher
freq's you can get away with a half wave rect stage IMO, if you work oout
the filter cap properly.. ie >200-300 hz you could prolly use 1/2 wave cct
[saves an op amp..] 1/2 wave cct is not so good for low imp inputs, so the
following stage is best be a unity gain follower, or you could kill 2 birds
in 1 stone, use say 3k3 res to filter cap, this drives a 100K+ pot, then
UGF.. so for the higher freq bands you could condense this to a 2 op amps..
on the lower bands you may want to use the full wave rect , so this would
make it 3 op amps per unit.. in a 22 band sys this will save you at leat 88
op amps! [22 quad pkgs! or 44 duals! lotta real estate] I also notice no dc
offset cal in this system.. try for youself see if you need one, but I find
a trimpot to trim out any little tiny dc offset in the op amps does increase
performance at the low end a bit for ccts like these..
also I'd go for an OTA for VCA nice, quick, simple..
Cheers,
Dan
