  PAIA makes something called the MIDI Brain:
    http://www.paia.com/midibrn.htm
  It says it can be set up to either:
    create midi from 8 CVs
   or
    create midi from 8 trigger pulses.
  I've never seen or used it, but for 87.75 US$, it sounds good.
