Thanks for the replies so far..
Yes it is polyphonic all notes can be on at the same
time. You can press several and while holding, release 
some and press more. Yes it is a gate not a trigger. 
The output goes high until the key is released.

Uses....
Drum trigger
midi to anything converter
( lights, motors, solenoids, hydraulics, pneumatics...?) 
16 A/D envelope generators or sequencer controlled 
A/D lfos
sequencer switching of guitar, kbd and vocal effects 
more?.....;-)
