newbie, how to do etching, what kind of pen?

I use photo transfer too, but recently discovered the joy of using purpose
made photo-etch film instead of transparency.
It's similar to tracing paper, which I have also read can be used
successfully but haven't tried.
It looks white but is transparent to UV, and takes the toner much more
consistently than acetate.
You'll end up with a more opaque image that results in better quality
tracks.
It is more expensive than transparency film, but I think it's worth it.
