Texas Instruments IC's

Are these chips OK to use?  What other brands are good to use (or better?)  I've also been using ECG chips too.  Are these chips suitable replacements for most of their cross referenced chips?  The ECG chips are a lot more expensive than the TI chips.  Does this have anything to do with the quality of TI chips?
