Hello and welcome,

I tried to build this filter a while back (also with little success).
I got a lot of ideas from listmembers, but one thing most people
seemed to agree on was that the Music Machines schematic doesn't work,
or at least isn't accurate. The one I ultimately tried to breadboard
was this one, posted by a kind soul on the list:

I couldn't get much out of it either, but a lot of the components
aren't quite the right ones, and I didn't have an oscilloscope or half
a brain to test it with. I do have one now (the scope, that is) so I'm
thinking of giving it another go. For the time being I'm sticking to
kits though, until I can learn more.
