Should I buffer triggers?

Hello list,
My project of hacking the Boss DR-110 continues.  I have the unit split open 
on the bench, and the modifications have begun.  I've added a DIN-sync 
modification, and I'm starting to tweak the individual sounds now. (Kick is 
my first target)

As part of my plan, I want to leave the existing sequencer, but also add 
trigger ins and outs for each sound.  Should I use a buffer on these new I/O 
lines?  If so, would a simple 1 transistor emitter follower be sufficient?  

I want to have the unit respond to both the internal and external triggers 
simultaneously... Any precautions mixing the external triggers with the 
internal triggers?
