The liniar sequencers can be used as pattern seq. too.
Basically everything a mod tracker can do can also be done with logic,
cuebase, cackewalk or what ever.
The only dif. is that these sequencers can do a hell of a lot more, therefor
they may look a little intimidating at first.
You may find them easier to work with than a tracker once you get the hang
of it (lets say after half a day or so).
Personally I like to write short midi patterns using the score editor, the
key editor will also work fine.
The patterns are all on a dumy track, then I copy to other tracks where I
need the patterns.
For sample sequencing just set the grit to 1/4 or so.
You can then easely place the samples on the beats.
Group the samples to create a "pattern" that can be easely copied and pasted
as a whole.
You can even make "biger" groups that form a whole chorus or bridge and
include both midi and audio.
Arranging was never so easy.
If the only thing you looking for is sample seq. you may want to look into
Acid.
This is a easy to use sample seq. with a cool feature, realtime time
stretching, this is not found on any other program I am aware of.
Hope this helps,
Cheers Theo
