DIY CD

Hello My Friends,

It is now possible to compile a DIY CD. As a matter of fact I have done
just that over the past weekend. Acrobat 4.0 grabs entire web sites
and turns them into pdfs. It follows the links and opens existing pdfs so
they are included in the new document. It does exclude zips, waves and
mp3s. So I packed my cable modem in dry ice and hit the web. The
first place I went was the DIY archive. WOW! I never realized how much
has been collected there. The pfd is over 130Meg! Anders' site weighed
in at about 80Meg. It's so cool to have all those pdfs open at once!
Kevin's place was over 50 and EFM was a pitiful 14Meg. The CD will
include complete text listings of the DIY gray pages...if released and
anything else you guys want.

Anyway. I have no intention of releasing this without permission. So if
you would like your site included on a basically free DIY-CD please
drop me a note. The price will be $5.00 s&h included or $2.00 s&h
included if you contribute a site.

The cool thing..the thing that might make this work is all of the links are
preserved within the pdf so clicking on a link opens the browser and
contacts it's home site. So it's really just an extension of the internet. If
you think of it this way it makes it easier to contribute your site.

DO NOT!! Contact me for a copy of this yet. I won't answer until
all included sites have given permission. I DO WANT TO HEAR
from contributors. PLEASE!

Here is an example capture of the EFM1 mirror in Australia....

Let's burn some CD's!
