modular jack markers?

You can take the rings and spraypaint them.
You need to mount them on scrap jacks to keep the paint off the threads
on the inside of the ring.
You can also paint them by hand with fingernail polish
(in many wonderful colors and can usually be stolen from
wife/girlfriend) keeping the paint off of the threads
also applies.
