Guitar synths (everyone's rant)

The problem with guitar synths?
Everyone wants it to do different (probably
incompatable) things.
Some people just want something so they can transfer
tab notation to midi tracks, or as a composing tool.
Some want to operate in realtime, controlling one or
six synths, which might be midi or cv.
Some want to really play a guitar, with the full
features of a guitar expressionwise, but the sound
comes via synth techniques withall the flexibility
that entails.
Face it, nothing is going to do all this and more.
As was rightly pointed out, it isn't even possible
over MIDI, though I'm suprised nobody said
'individual note pressure' yet. And nobody said
'neural network' which is prob the only way to extract enough
info quickly enough.
Personally, I'd like to see a 'stick' shaped controller
so people could impress the audience in a rockgod wanker
style while twirling the knob to ..... oh never mind.
Actually what I *really* want is a reference book that
covers doing sine synthesis etc by microprocessors, some
kind of how to DCO. Any ideas?
