I have the stuff I need (I hope) to start developing CPLDs like the XL9500.
Haven't tried it, though. There are some nifty (gulp) digital things to try.

    But the virtex would be fun.  I was sort of thinking of using the 4010E or
the Spartan parts (XCS40).  With their dual port rams, it would be pretty easy
to implement the circuits that are in Hal Chamberlains book.  Putting a
parrallel multiplier into the chip really cramps it a bit, if you want to do
this.  I can't remember how much of the chip a 16x16 multiplier used.
