Not nesseserely.
The function of the resistive frets would be to solve the string / fret
shorting problem.
A resistive fret with 6 taps can be used instead of the usual cut frets.
There would be no relation bedween the resistance and pitch.

Effects like string buzz and the body capasity/resistance of the player are
more like a inconviniance than a problem.

troublesome stuf.
