A few months ago I cut up a old broken DBX VCA module
and found it was full of 2SC1583s.  Each one had a tight fitting
aluminium box over the body.  The cans were not touching each
other (the whole thing was encapsulated in rubbery glop) and I 
don't think they were touching the module case either.

The only reason I can think of for these cans would be to improve
thermal matching of the two transistors in the 1583.

Any thoughts on this?  Anyone feel like trying this out - I've just
moved house and my 2SC1583s are still missing...
