BBD-MN3010 and MN3011- is a MN3101 clock necessary?

The only problem I can see in using a 4017 or similar is that the
deadtime of the two clocks is frequency dependant. You can do the whole
thing with two sets of a CR differentiator and an x-or gate, this will
remove the first part of any rising edge. The x-or gate is fed by the
clock and the differentiated (spiked) version of the clock. The amount
of time stolen off the front end is dependant on the CR values. A diode
to remove the negative spike is useful to protect the logic IC.
