Voltage Regulator question

Hi Everyone -
I have an old Garfield Electronics Nano Doc here that I haven't used in
a few years because I wasn't sure what kind of adaptor to use with it.
I just cracked it open and found that it's wired Pin negative and that
the whole thing is regulated with a 7805. I powered it up with a Boss
ACA120, which is 9V at 200mA and got the +5V at all the appropiate
places.
Is this an okay adaptor to use full time on this piece? Is 9V too much
to feed a 7805? I don't believe so, but I could be wrong.
Thanks,
Tim
