building analogue sequencers

hello there,
having some trouble getting through, so I hope this works....
I built the baby 10 analogue sequencer and it works, though not super.
now I'm looking to build a seq with some more features, a 16 or 2X8-step. I 
scavenged about every design I could find off of the net, and was all set to 
build this great looking machine from ETI-magazine or PE, when I read this 
article about diy'ing which specifically pointed this one out as non-working 
(as is).  So, I'd like to hear from people: who built what, and did it work?
