If these are for your ASM1, you might consider pitting them in sockets.  I
spent forever getting my ASM1's VCF working because everytime I tried to
troubleshoot it, I killed one of the 3140s.  Now they're in sockets, and I
also used a wrist strap when I put the final replacements in.

They've been happy since.
