BBD-MN3010 and MN3011- is a MN3101 clock necessary?

The MN3010 chorus circuit in the Korg Lambda string synth uses a
discrete transistor clock - no MN3101, no MN3102, no CD4013 are used.
The MN3101 spec sheets show that the outputs do overlap - but the
overlap point occurs at a voltage higher than the mid-supply voltage.
I do not know if this helps improve BBD performance. The MN3101
supposedly has enough drive capability for two MN3005 - total of 8192
stages, which is a point in it's favor. I have seen BBD circuits where
CD4049 buffers are used on CD4013 outputs in order to improve drive
capability for capacitive loads. The MN3011 has more than 3000
stages (lots of capacitance)so a good driver circuit would help. Mike I.
