Hi DIYers
A little over a week ago I sent out accurracy measurements of my completed Oakley MidiDAC midi to CV converters.
Well, I have now found out that a very subtle oscillation caused the less-than-stellar accuracy results.
I have now fixed the problem. Details will be on the Oakley web site (http://www.techrepairs.freeserve.co.uk/mods.htm).
Measuring all notes (10 octaves) now produces maximally +-3 cents error! This error is so small that the resolution of a 4 1/2 digit DVM is barely enough to show it. And both units display virtually the same error.
So if any of you doubt that a 12 bit DAC is accurate enough, you don't have to worry anymore.
Also, if you're in the market for a midi to CV converter kit, the Oakley MidiDAC comes highly recommended.
/Jorgen
