OT-but related. What's up with Pagemaker.

Y-ellow Y'all.
	Ok I found the thing I'm spoze to make HTML and PDF files with. It's
called Pagemaker by adobe. But I can't get it to do anything terribly
useful. Obviouly this is in order to convert old mag articles etc, into PDF
and HTML for you delight and delection.

What it does really well is crash. It does this equally well on all the
machines I tried installing it on. Though with two slightly different flavors.

On this machine it complains that it can't find it's PDF distiller. I had
this feeling that it was something separate that I should install so I
moved on to try and make a HTML file. I set it up to create one. Telling it
to lay down all the graphic components in the same  directory etc. Then it
seems to be ready and so I tell it to start. It then shuts down creates
some temp files and a *.htm file with zero length. The next time I try to
call the stupid thing and repeat the process it crashes and burns in
spectacular fashion taking the whole machine out.

On the other machine it can find it's PDF component and I recall seeing it
install. However when trying to create a PDF it then tells me it can't do
it because I don't have a post script printer. And I'm thinking... "Well
what's that got to do with the price of eggs?" I don't wanna print the
sucker I just wanna create a PDF. The  same basic thing happens with HTML
files as it did on the other machine.

The layout part was straight forward. I got an almost identical layout up
as to the original mag article. But it won't translate that into anything
useful. If anyone knows this stuff and would like to help me out here I can
start plugging away at some of this stuff.

Perhaps there's a better way? Any help would be appreciated.
