I'm no expert, but I've got a couple ideas that might do what you need..If you just wanted to divide by 2,4,8, and 16, I'd suggest cascading flip-flops.

But I'm not sure how to do 6 and 12 that way..you might want to have a look at the datasheet for the 4017 CMOS counter chip. If I remember correctly, you can change the numbers it divides by, by tying the corresponding output to ground.

you could use the 4017 to divide by 6, and then hang a flip-flop off of that to get 12.

A switch to switch between the cascaded flip flops and the 4017, and one more switch to switch between 6 and 12, and you might be in business..

If anybody's got a better way to do it, please post it..I'm a high school student, not an EE, so I might not have the simplest way of doing this..
