OT: diy effects (analogue)

Hi,

Has anyone built one of the following effects:

-Urei tube compressor
-Oberheim ring-modulator
-Elektor vocoder

What is the 1495 ic in the oberheim ring-modulator? Is it replaced by the 
1496?
And does anyone have a good source for tube-specs?
