I have a MS in computer science but after years have learned to
understand most basic analog electronics designs. Yeah, the recommended
book Art of Electronics is a good one. However, even though you
couldn't now see how your boring classes are related to analog
electronics or synth design you can see it later after years
(please tell us the topics you have found to be boring and we'll
tell you where you may need that information). Also if it possible
try took other courses that are more interesting. I for an example
see that I should now learn some more DSP stuff as I just missed
(didn't got it) one very interesting job offer (related to electronic
music and digital audio) just because of the lack of DSP courses
in education.
So DSP and other software courses are recommended these days when
world is coming more digital.
