You have another option besides those!!! 
Instead of buying the ms2000 or the jp8000 I would prefer the supernova 2 from Novation 
or maybe a Latvia nord lead 2/3.
Dont buy a mc303 the sounds suck if you are buying one of those to use it has a drum 
machine maybe you should try Quasimidi rave-o-lution 309 or get a mpc-2000xl akai 
sampler.
The 309 synths are a shit but it has lots of percussion sounds and you can get the drum 
expansion card with the akai you can have all the sounds that you want. The price of the 
mpc2000xl is a little higher than the er-1 but you will get a 32 track midi sequencer.
It's very good to play live (I dont need to take my pc anymore and pray so it would not crash 
on the middle of the live-act).
