Do try Roland again. Certainly Roland UK did have them the last time I
looked. But try asking for BA662 and say it comes from a SH-09. The part
number computer at Roland UK can be very peculiar. Certainly if you ask
for BA662 from a TB303, you get no supply. A JP8, however, comes up
trumps. If the JP8 has failed this time, try another synth.
On the other hand, it is not difficult to get a BA6110 made by R-Ohm to
fit. This is an updated and improved part, the orignal 662 was made by
R-Ohm for Roland it seems. It has different pin out but it is possible
to use the new part with a bit of a cludge.
You have to handy with a soldering iron to do this. See the 2nd page of
the TB3030 schematics on my site for details on this. This shows how
either part can be used to make a typical Roland VCA. The BA662 and 6110
do sound the same, so long as you don't use the compensation network in
the input of the BA6110.
