thinking of building DIY

Hi, I am new to the list...can someone give some advise here?

I am thinking of building the 5 PCB's for the Roland SH-5 by following
the service manual (good detail in schematics and tuning procedures) and
wonder what I may be getting myself into. I am an electronics
technologist and have the necessary skills and test equipment to build,
but lack the experience with the VCO and VCF type circuits.

Can building from the Manufacturer's schematics be relatively
successful, or is it a very time consuming challenge? It look's as if a
temperature stable, linear tracking VCO could be difficult to replicate
from these mid-70's circuits...any truth here?

I am thinking of building a synthesizer based on the SH-5. Any one out
there tried cloning the SH-5 circuits? Comments welcome?

regards, Blair (I am looking for a used SH-5)
