A lot of commercial work has been done on ultrasonic detection
of insects eating grain etc, probes (i assume piezo based) are
run into the storage bins & the tiny munching sounds detedcted.
What it sounds like i do not know.
Perhaps you could get a great beat going by having a millipede
walk over your microphone diaphragm...
(anyone who does this, PLEASE let me know!!)

BTW we are suffering from a fruitbat plague here, all the old
trees are being killed by them. We dont need any bathouses here!
Even less relevantly, the word 'bat' comes from a Norse
word for 'leather flapper'.
