It is possible to modify an Alesis ADAT so that it will record and play back 
DC.  I have heard about people doing this to record and play back DC control 
information for light shows and laser displays.  Although I haven't ever seen 
an ADAT schematic, I imagine that it's just a matter of removing some 
coupling caps and maybe adding some input offset trimmers.
