Difference Between 4049 and 4069?

Yes it'll work, and it'll work for phasers also. 4049 has more current
sink and source potential, and it's used for cmos/ttl logic level
conversion. It's also in 16pin package with 2 unused pins (4069 is
14pin).
Also 69 is a bit slower, but it doesn't matter for your app., and
it takes less current than 49 (matters if using battery power for
distortion).
49 has "sharper" squares but it's noticeable only on scope, not in
audio.
I used 4069 instead 4049 and it works just right (for audio purposes).
Driving logic ccts is another matter.
