Duplex Stereo over the phone?

I think your best bet is to create a audio mux / demux for both ends. You
could probably do this in software if you have a full duplex sound card.
Your band width would be limited.
An alternative is to stream the content (i.e. RealAudio). This would create
a slight lag, however you would get better bandwidth and adaptive quality.

Wonder if anyone here has any experience with this....

What would be the least expensive method to achieve stereo duplex audio
over a phone line?
I want to be able to have a typical interactive conversation in stereo at
both ends using a single line. Would you go with a laptop at each end and
some software program, or is there some other way?
