Ahhh... didn't say the 4007 was BETTER... just usable.  If you want to make
a linear amp, you could use "emitter" (yeah i know thats not  quite the right
term but you
know what i mean) resistors to lilit the "shoot through" current... or set
individual
thresholds... etc...
