Newby Question on Synth terms

Linear FM is WAY necessary, IMHO. Basically, if you pump a fast LFO into an
exponential pitch CV input the pitch seems to change. So you can't really
use exp pitch CV ins for vibrato. I use FM for timbre a lot, and that's
_very_ difficult without linear FM inputs.

Hi Dave:

Sync (simple version): One Oscillator causes another to reset its
waveform, causing the second oscillator to run at an integral multiple
of the frequency of the first. Comes in HARD and SOFT flavors...

Hard resets right NOW! bang. Gives a sort of PWM type sound, or can sound
like a resonant filter sweep.

Soft resets only when the oscillators are near each other in frequency
eliminates beating.

Hard is the most common flavor.

FM = Frequency Modulation (implied here... LINEAR frequency modulation).
This modulation will move the VCO frequency an
equal number of Hz, not an equal musical interval.

Some like it a lot, some never use it...

MY "HO" Sync is a real plus... Linear FM is not necessary

Actual Mileage may vary...
